The past couple of Sunday's have seen Scott and I resume our 'time trials' in the park. It's been almost 18 months since we went head-to-head in the name of fitness. Actually working out together. Now, we're in training for the City to Surf in August and we've decided to step up the pace on our preparation. Today we ran 2 laps a piece, approximately 10km. It was tough and gritty, but we couldn't have asked for a better morning to do it. Sun shining, temperature fresh and cool, with not a whisper of breeze to be found. Our times weren't too bad. There is room for improvement over the next 5 or so weeks, but we've started early and intend to keep the momentum going.
One of the best parts of our joint exercise regime, is the time we spend independently with the boys. While I'm running, Scott is playing with them on one of the massive ovals in the park. Then vice versa, when he runs. We used to do the same thing, when we only had Angus and it was those great memories that inspired us to kickstart the sessions again.
I ran first today and after just over 45 minutes of galloping, I. was. knackered when I arrived to tag team with Scott and take over the boys. I took Felix for a little stroll in his pram, under the giant trees and Angus walked by my side. Within minutes, he was asleep, which left some lovely one-on-one time for Angus and I. We kicked the ball, threw the frisbee and lay on the picnic rug, admiring the perfect sky above. The sun, the trees and my gorgeous boy. From this angle, through my eyes, nothing in the world could look brighter on a Sunday morning.
