Nana's Garden

My little fairy in the garden. Tiptoeing through the Autumn leaves on the grass I myself tiptoed across as a little girl. My childhood home. These pictures fill me with so much joy and love and I know they will mean the world to me and my girl in the years to come. My beautiful Mum, Bonny's adoring Nana. Time cannot alter these moments. I'm going to hold onto them forever.

Sunrise... over the beaches

The boys were quite the early risers during our holiday. Every. single. morning. of our holiday. The non-existence of daylight savings in Queensland completely threw them. So it was 5am starts for us and more than a few tantrums brought on by tiredness. But on our last morning on the road, we finally took full advantage of the early start, heading down to Sapphire Beach on the Coffs Coast. The resort we stayed at had private access to this stunning little beach. And we watched the sun rise. The boys, pyjama clad, cooled their toes, as they played chasings with the waves. One of my absolute favourite moments of our trip. One I'll remember always.

Father's Day Twenty Twelve

We had quite possibly the loveliest Father's Day yet, this year. The boys and I took Scott on a special stroll through 'Spring', in the Botanic Gardens. An explosion of brightly coloured petals, under a crisp blue sky, it was quite the sight to behold. Rather difficult to curb my camera snapping. After working up a healthy appetite, we wandered around to Opera Bar, to treat Daddy to a tasty lunch and a well earned beverage. While Felix dozed away in his pram, the rest of us enjoyed our time in the sun. Eating, drinking, loving our Father's Day twenty twelve.

Good Looking Winter

The last few days have been an absolute pearler in old Sydney town. Each one better than the last. And with a return to arctic Winter temps due for the weekend, we have been soaking up the sunshine while it's here. Monday, Scott went to work for half of his day off, because he is just crazy busy at present (and working long long long hours), but he managed to get out in time to meet Felix and I for a lovely lunch and walk along the beach. Felix slept right through the meal, so we enjoyed a cheeky drink and I had the tastiest grilled snapper and pumpkin puree with pesto & roasted rosemary potatoes. Quite the step up from my usual salad roll weekdays. Scott having the afternoon off also meant being able to pick Angus up from preschool, for the very first time. Such a beautiful thing to see Angus' expression when Dad walked in.

Today, the boys and I hopped on a bus and met Nana at Circular Quay. We wandered and chatted and climbed structures we shouldn't... thank you Angus. Then had lunch on the grass in the Botanic Gardens. Sydney Harbour looked picture perfect under twenty two degree skies. The sun has been just what my senses required this week, with my thoughts and feelings a little scrambled. My gorgeous friend had her operation today and the long journey begins. But she knows we are all here waiting for her and she will have endless support over the coming months.

Weekend Reflection

Early Saturday morning in July. Coogee Beach. Nine degrees. Four kilometres in soft sand and some random snaps of my 'workout world'. I've needed to do this for a while. But lacked energy, strength and health. This weekend, there were no excuses. I must always try to remember the satisfaction and sense of well being exercise provides for me. Because it is so easy to forget, when I'm in a slump.

Saturday evening, Scott and I had one of our rare outings together, alone. A friend's engagement party in the city, allowed us to sneak off into the night (or more so I snuck off on a bus and met Scott in the city, as he had been at work all day). We intended to put our names down for a table at Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant, but were promptly informed we'd have a two hour wait. So plan B, was scrumptious Thai, at a fantastic restaurant in the Ivy precinct. It was that good I practically licked the plate clean. Not the cheapest Thai we've ever eaten, but worth every penny. And sadly, no photos, as we were enjoying the moment way too much. We rolled on down the road to the party at Arthouse Hotel and had a fun night chatting and laughing and later on... dancing... at the engagement party. A lazy Sunday hanging with my boys, capped the weekend off just nicely.
