Add to this, a classic terrible two temper tantrum display from Master Felix, who rolled one outburst into the next, culminating in BOTH of us crying and screeching at each other by the time we made it back to the car. He seriously howled his way from the specialists office, through the shopping centre and all the way home. I had an elderly lady "tsk tsk" at him for being "so noisy" as I hurried along, face burning, eyes stinging. Why are people so unkind?
So, the operation is booked. I have a month to get my head around it all and try to calm. the. heck. down. I admit, I don't do these things well. Thankfully, this is the first hospital procedure either of the boy's have ever had. And for this, I am so so grateful. I think Angus' doctor said it best when he told me to "go home and have a wine", as I left his office. And bless him, he even understood that two year olds are just like that... and my two year old is like that... and then some!
Oh my two year old is like that. Some days it feels like one long fight. Sigh, the elderly lady should have offered to help rather than tsking.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck for Angus' operation. I'm sure the calmer you are, the calmer he will be, but I don't take those things well either. I don't think any mum does. I'm not looking forward to when they break bones or need stitches ... eeek.
Our youngest one just had grommets and the procedure is really simple. And instantly that night he was a different child being able to talk more clearly and sleeping better too. Hope you managed to have yourself a wine too, know the feeling of having a two year old. As much as we love them, they like to test their mummas!!! Please don't stress about the operation, it is really quick and he will be fine xx
ReplyDeleteAt least it is one step closer to being dealt with. It is always good to know exactly how things are and by the time you actually get to hospital I'm sure you will have processed all of todays news and be looking forward to bringing your boy home to a healthy future...we just never want our kids to feel any pain or suffering, even when we know it is for the best outcome.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand the tsking! I once had an elderly lady ask me if I fed my children sugar for breakfast. That didn't make me smile. I find days like that to be so overwhelming and I would definitely be taking that doctor's advice and having a glass of wine! Isn't it fantastic when you get medical professionals who understand and can make us feel just a tiny bit better about the situation.
ReplyDeleteJust think about how much better he will be once you are on the other side! And as for the interferring types, scowl and ingnore!!! x
ReplyDeleteOh I hate those day! Hope your relaxing now with a nice big glass of wine. hugs. xx
ReplyDeleteHow great though that you have a plan to move your little guy forward into a healthier place....surely the tsk tsk lady has never had a two year old otherwise she would have given you an understanding smile. Here's to a better day for you tomorrow. xxx
ReplyDeleteOh big hugs to you Jules. I hope you had that wine!
ReplyDeleteOh lovely, that is a bad day. It's scary when your child has to go to hospital. My little one had her adenoids and tonsils out last year, it wasn't fun but it made a big difference. In hospital, the kids who had just adenoids out and grommets in bounced back really fast too.
ReplyDeleteOh those two year old tantrums are epic! I really feel for you. I hope you had that wine! Xxx
Oh Julie, I'm sorry you had such a bay day. I'm sure Angus will do just fine and will feel so much better after his procedure. Hang in there mama!! Sending lots of hugs xo K
ReplyDeleteDays like that are so draining. Hope things have picked up and everyone's enjoyed a good sleep. I'm sure the op will go fine. I remember my nephew having it and being young he recovered in no time :)
ReplyDeleteOh boo. Sorry to hear your've had one of those days. Not surprising given the news about poor Angus. Hope it all goes smoothly, I'm sure it will. As for the tantruming. Gosh they can be quite something can't they?! Hope tomorrow is a better day. x
ReplyDeleteHope you had a big glass on wine J.
ReplyDeleteOld ladies can sometimes be the cruelest with their looks and comments. Felix is just being a typical 2 year old xoxox
Oh love.
ReplyDeleteThat is a crap day.
Plus.
Magoo had his adenoids removed (and throat thingo trimmed and fixed) at 5 months.
Broke my heart handing him over to the theatre staff.
I think it would be far worse now, at this age though.
My heart goes out to you.
The only silver lining will hopefully be the improvements after the surgery.
As for Felix???
The Jekyll & Hyde nature of his age is amazing - but not always in a wonderful wonderment way.
I hope you did have that wine.
Plus.
Motherhood is one hell of a job some days.
:-( xxxxx
Hope things get better for you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your distressing news Julie - no good news on it's own let only with a tantrum going on as well... not a good day at all. I hope that glass of wine helped a tad! sounds like you have a wise doctor!

I love that he suggested wine!
ReplyDeleteThink how much better he'll be when he can breathe and hear properly..
x
I love your dr! Any dr that prescribes wine is a keeper in my book.
ReplyDeleteThat Doc is a keeper and I would mind a prescription from him too lol.
ReplyDeleteMy boys all have the tonsils out, adnoids gone and grommets in. Our ENT joked that we hit the trifecta, we silently threw daggers that we had just paid for his home extensions tpo be finished. You sound like you really meed to take that Drs advice and drink the wine hun. Hang in there gorgeous girl. Big Hugs xx
Feel for you! So hard to keep calm when your little ones need an op. I was all calm on the outside and the opposite inside when my little miss three (then 18 months) went under! But they are so so resilient and strong! It's harder for us I think. Hope next week is calm and brings you loads of love & sunshine xx
ReplyDeleteHave just found your blog and love it. I'm a mum of 2 wee boys and a girl. Looking forward to following your blog. Elaina
ReplyDeleteHey there, just come across your blog. Sad to hear about Angus... the Drs suspect Miss M has enlarged adenoids as well, but won't look into it until she is 2 years old (she is currently 20 months). I hear it is quite common but I do worry about her having to have surgery! Sending lots of good thoughts to you, hope it all goes ok xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit tough isn't it? watching our children go through difficult times- sometimes harder as a parent. Hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteI have a two year old like that. The stinging eyes all too familiar. Am sure all will go very well. Don't worry mama. X ashley
ReplyDeleteOh Sweetheart. Just catching up on your posts. It is a pain but thank goodness you're onto it now. Joshua had three ENT ops (his adenoids grew back and grommets fell out twice!) and India one. They've never looked back. Give me a call - I'm a willing listener ☺. J x
ReplyDeleteWhat a BEAUTIFUL doctor!
ReplyDeleteThey can sometimes just say the most beautiful, & yet obvious things.
My OB said after I battled & cried my way through 12 weeks of breastfeeding, 'give him the formula. And be more concerned with what he'll put in his mouth when he is 18'.
Ha! x
