My Boys

So the weekend came and went and though I was thrilled when Scott arrived home on Monday afternoon, I really had very little time to miss him while he was away. I made a point of keeping busy and wearing my little dynamos out as best I could. Which naturally led to wearing myself out in the process. It is fair to say that my boys have stolen my heart totally. They are such hard work and have the power to drive me bonkers, though each night as I placed them into their beds and the house went quiet, I could not have felt luckier to be their Mama. Solo parenting isn't easy, but I do find it exceptionally rewarding. Like that feeling of being dog tired is actually worth it. We went along to a local Eco-living fair on Sunday and whilst I personally didn't get a great deal out of it, the boys most certainly did. And so we were ALL happy.

  1. Oh I so know what you mean about solo-parenting. It is so rewarding and definitely brings you closed to the children. Well done you for having such a great few days with them xx

  2. Looks like the boys had a really great time. And sounds like you cope really well with your weekend of solo parenting. Mine share the power to drive their mamma bonkers - but yeah, they're worth it :)

  3. All those giant games look fabulous, I would have loved them as a child..especially snakes and ladders. When our kids were younger I bought them a large snakes and ladders board that had the most gruesome looking snakes on it..they loved it!

  4. Wow that huge snakes and ladders looks like so much fun!
Gosh solo-parenting is hard isn't it, well done on getting through your time without hubby.
Glen hasn't been away since I've had both boys but on the days that he plays his squash comp, leaves home at 7.30am and gets home at 11pm I find hard enough. But you are totally right, as exhausting as they can be there is no greater reward is there!
    Have a great day,
    Jxx

I find solo-parenting ok for a short time...I admire people who do it full-time so much!

  8. Well done Mum!
I agree on the solo parenting thing - part of me can't wait to be a parenting duo again, but there's also that special feeling of closeness and satisfaction being their 'everything' for a bit.
I take my hat off to full time single parents though.
The boys look like they had a ball.
    :-) xx

  9. What a great little set up. It is funny isn't it how it only takes a few minutes to ourself after bedtime and we are already missing them and 'forgetting' the days antics. It does make me realise how much I rely on my husband when he is away.x

  10. Good on you J! I always do the same during periods when hubby is away, that way I don't stop and dwell on the fact that he's not here either. It also makes me realise how lucky I am to have such a helpful hubby and appreciate him when he is around.
I agree with Shar though - I take my hat off to full time single parents.
