With the sun shining and a refreshing breeze blowing, yesterday we celebrated our big boy's 4th birthday. A bundle of close friend's and family came along to add to the spirit of the occasion and be there to share in the very special memories created. Being a 'just after Christmas/New Year baby', I am particularly conscious of how easy it would be to overlook 'party time' when it comes to Angus' birthday. So for this reason I try to make a significant effort and hope to continue the tradition always.
For months now, he has been super excited about turning four (even though half of the time he actually thinks he's turning five, like some of his friends already have). This birthday is the first one he has actually talked about, waited for and understood the concept of, in his young life. Seeing that passion and spark warms the cockles of my heart. While at times he can be bossy, self righteous and disobedient, he really is growing into such a beautiful boy. A kindness and sensitivity to him that belies his years. And as I reflect on the precious day fours years ago, when he first graced our lives, one comment remains strong in my mind. A few hours old, with his Mama still decidedly groggy, he opened his eyes and looked at the lovely midwife on duty. "This one has been here before" she whispered to me, "there is wisdom in those sparkling eyes". I doubt I'll ever forget that moment.
He looks SO big! Happy Birthday Angus x

ReplyDeleteMy little guy will turn four this year. They get so big so fast! Love the Cars cake. My son would love it too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your gorgeous man and good on you for being aware of the potential for his birthday being 'lost' as its so close to Christmas. My dad has a Jan 4 birth date and says he always missed out on a proper celebration, sometimes getting an early present on Christmas day to replace a real birthday gift. Great job on the cake too!!
