Afternoon Room

The weeks are blurring together a bit at the moment. There are so many things happening and most days I find it difficult to keep up. So I just do what I can and work through each day. The tantrums, the arguing, the cuddles, the kisses... and everything else in between. I absolutely love catching the boys unawares lately. When they're on the lounge, or hanging out on their bunks or in the bath. I just stop and listen. For all the brutish brother behaviour, these two love each other... possibly more than anything else in the world. And I love that.

In saying that, Angus is becoming increasingly independent. Looking to spread his wings further and further. There is an afternoon room at his preschool, it runs for an hour after the school day finishes. The reason most children go along is because their parents are working or otherwise engaged. Angus has been requesting to go to afternoon room for a while now and this week he tried it out for the first time. And loved it! It seems he cannot get enough of preschool, his friends, teachers and the learning environment. I am so happy with how at ease he is, in his little part of the world.

  1. That's fantastic, isn't it?
You must feel so positive about his start to schoolimg.
If they love going (and staying he he) you're so far ahead already.

  2. Oh to be a kid these days. It happens when they start big school too - my school kids are constantly asking if they can stay at school when school finishes so they can go to after-school care to play with all their friends. It's definitely a huge bonus if they enjoy being at school :-D

  4. I love what you wrote about your boys loving each other more than anything, I've been noticing that about my children too. There can be so much fighting and bickering throughout the day that I forget to notice that they really do enjoy each others' company and love each other unconditionally! My 3 yr old is especially going to miss his big sister next year when she goes to big school and I have a feeling he will be a little bit lost for the first few months.

  6. It is so satisfying to see them so confident and happy in their kindy/school environment. It gives you that extra peace of mind regarding them starting school next year. Jasper is the same at the moment, loving his kindy, friends and teachers.

I'm with you on the weeks blurring together and flying by. I feel I am barely keeping up with the day to day "jobs", let alone doing those things I want to do. Bring on those lazy Summer days! xx

  7. How wonderful! I hated preschool so when Lil loved it, it made my heart soar.
My girls are the same, they fight and bicker and then I see them hold hands or help each other and I'm swollen with pride. They are really helping each other cope in Dubai. It's a built-in friendship and support system, I love it.
